FENG Sand Blasting System
In order to help our customer better know our FENG sand blasting system, we have separated it in 6 parts, which is explained in details as below.
Part 1
Working Principle of FENG Sand Blasting System:
FENG Sand Blasting System mainly includes two parts: Sand Blasting System and Abrasive Separation/Recovery/Dust Removal System.
Working Principle of Sand Blasting System:
The abrasive sand is stored in the tank, when the sandblasting work is on, the combination valves on the tank will start to function, the tank cover is closed and the tank starts to be pressurized, meanwhile, the sand valve and the boosting valve under the tank opens. After the tank is pressurized, the inside abrasive sand is pushed from the sand inlet to the sand outlet and then the boosting air flow accelerates the abrasive sand. The accelerated abrasive sand is mixed with the boosting air and flows through the sandblast hose to the sandblast gun, then it is further accelerated to supersonic speed. Finally the accelerated abrasive sand is shot to the work piece surface at a very high speed, by this way, the work piece surface is cleaned and strengthened.
Working Principle of Abrasive Separation/Recovery/Dust Removal System:
The outside air flow enter into the sandblaster tank through the coarse effect filter located on the top of the machine, then into the sandblasting workroom through the uniform flow plate. Inside the sandblaster, an airflow from bottom to top is formed, all the abrasive sand, dust and processed work piece are sucked into the Separation system through the cellular sand suction floor, then the separator will separate the abrasive sand from the dust. Useful abrasive sand will be recycled into the tank and continue sandblasting, while the dust and waste will be taken into the dust removal system by the air flow, after the filtered by the dust removal system, clean air is vented into environment and dust and waste is stored in the dust bag for clean.
Part 2
Applications of FENG Sandblasting System:
1. Pretreatment of electroplating, paint spraying, coating, etc. to completely clean the surface and improve the adhesion and anti-corrosion ability.
2. Cleaning the mill scale/residues/dirt of casting/pressing /welding/heat treatment work piece, cleaning the surface of non-metal items, cleaning the black spots on the ceramic embryo surface, restoring paint grain pattern, etc.
3. Refurnishing sports part of car, motorcycle, electromechanical device, etc., eliminating fatigue stress and extending working life.
4. Removing surface marks of metal/non-metal items, dumb face and fog treatment processing to enhance the product grade.
5. Dumb face and fog treatment of mould, text composition, mould cleaning without damage to the mould.
6. Removing the tiny burrs of mechanical parts and injection plastic parts.
7. Removing unqualified coveringļ¼color and printing of products.
8. Enhancing the surface hardness of metal work piece and eliminating stress, such as processing plane vane, spring, machining knife, weapons etc.
9. Carving patterns/words and slip resistance treatment on the surface of metal and non-metal items, such as marble, handle anti-skid, stamping, stele lettering, etc.
10. Sandblasting/white mark/cat’s whisker effect treatment of jeans wear.
Part 3
Sandblasting Process
A. Usage of sand blast:
1. Cleaning the surface of work piece.
2. Pretreatment of work piece before surface coating.
3. Changing the physical and mechanical properties of work piece.
4. Finishing processing for work piece surface.
B. The Three Elements for Getting the Wanted Surface Effect:
1. Adjusting the working pressure, when the abrasive sand type, sandblast gun distance and angel is set, the higher the working pressure is, the higher the sandblasting efficiency will be and the rougher the work piece surface will become, on the contrary, the work piece surface will be smooth.
2. Controlling the distance and angle of the sandblast gun, when the working pressure and abrasive sand type is set, it become the key of manual sandblasting. Normally the sandblast gun distance is 50-150mm, the farther the sandblast gun is, the lower efficiency the sandblast stream is and the more smooth the work piece surface is. In a similar way, the smaller the sandblast gun angle is, the lower efficiency the sandblast stream is, the more smooth the sandblast gun angle is, the lower efficiency the sandblast stream is and the more smooth the work piece surface is.
3. Choosing the right abrasive sand, according to the outer shape, there is two types, one is the spherical type and the other is the diamond type. The common used corundum sand (white or brown) belongs to the diamond type, the glass bead belongs to the spherical type. When the working pressure, sandblast gun distance and angle is set, the spherical type sand will make the sandblasted surface smooth, while the diamond type sand will make the sandblasted surface rough. Besides, there is different thickness degree for one type sand, commonly the thickness degree is defined by certain #, the higher the # is, the smaller the abrasive sand is, the more smooth the processed surface will be.

Part 4
The Choice of Sandblasting Equipments:
1. According to the required sandblasting effect, generally speaking, the sandblasting effect is mostly decided by the abrasive sand, which covers from the strong effect metal sand to the soft effect resin sand. Meanwhile, dry or liquid sandblaster will all also make difference. Customer can decide by trial on the samples.
2. According to the production efficiency, customer can decide whether to choose automatic type, semi-automatic type, pressure feed type, high pressure type or suction type by their own processing capacity.
3. According to the work piece size, customer needs to choose the right sandblaster, which has big enough working cabinet to suit the work piece.
4. According to the compressed air requirement, normally the air compressor capacity should be 20% higher than rated requirement to protect the air compressor.
5. According to the after sale service, good after sale service will make customer feel reassuring to buy the sandblasting equipments.
6. According to the price, only the professional supplier can provide products of good cost performance, customer always need products of good cost performance.
Part 5
Composition and structure features of FENG Sandblasting Room System:
FENG sandblasting room system includes the gate, the sandblasting room, separator, dust removal equipments, host sandblasting machine, cellular sand suction floor, grid floor, electronic control system, lighting system, air conditioning sandblast cloth, etc.
Features of main composition:
1. Host Sandblasting Machine
Host sandblasting machine is the core unit of FENG sandblasting system. The performance of the host sandblasting machine decides the working performance of the whole sandblasting system. We adopted our independent developed and manufactured host sandblasting machine (model OBM-900BTY) as the host sandblasting machine for FENG sandblasting system. It is pressure type sandblaster with big capacity (about 3tons per tank) and can satisfy high-efficiency work of two abrasive sand controlling valves and two sandblast guns.
2. Sandblasting Tank
Sandblasting tank is manufactured by ourselves according to the ASME standard and it is approved by the local Boiler and Pressure Container Inspection Institute to satisfy related standards and requirements.
3. Combination Valves
FENG combination valves are designed by ourselves according to the technologies provided by American company SCHMIDT. It is the core component for controlling FENG sandblasting system. The outstanding feature of the combination valves is its stability. When the sandblasting system is running, sand and dust are not able to enter into the combination valves, which will ensure the combination valves will work stably and durably.
4. Sand Valve
Sand valve is very importance part of the sandblasting system, it mainly control the open and close of the abrasive sand and the stepless adjustment of sandblast stream. The quality of the sand valve will decide whether the machine can work or not. The sand valve of FENG sandblasting system is made by American professional sandblaster manufacturer CLEMCO. It belongs to the pneumatic control pipe clamp type and it adopts the jacket structure. The driven part is one membrane cylinder, which has very high working stability, big sandblasting capacity, quite sensitive controlling and almost needs little maintenance. It’s widely used in shipyard and large sandblasting industries.
We adopt the self-manufactured high speed sandblast gun for the FENG sandblasting system. It has one wave shape hose, when the compressed air reaches the contraction section, the air is accelerated to sonic speed; when the air reaches the straight section, the air speed stabilizes at sonic speed; when the air reaches the expansion section of the wave shape hose, the air is further accelerated to supersonic speed. Besides, there is secondary air supply hole around the wave shape hose, when the air reaches the supersonic speed, it is further rapidly expanded and the nozzle suck in a lot of auxiliary air to further accelerate the abrasive sand. Compared with the normal sandblast gun, the sandblasting speed is much higher and the sandblasting efficiency is improved by 50%, the highest working efficiency could reach 35m2/h, furthermore, the recoil force is smaller and the handling is more energy-saving. The material of the contraction section, straight section and expansion section the high speed sandblast gun is boron carbide, which makes the FB sandblast gun works longer time. Normally one FB sandblast gun can work for up to 800 hours. The FB sandblast gun also has double function of sandblasting and air injection, which makes it easy to blow away the residue sand on the work piece.
6. Up and Lower Sand Inspection Switch
There is up and lower sand inspection switch on the sandblast tank, which can realize the alarming function of up and lower sand limit. The sand switch is the touchable type and it has high sensibility, stability, and easy installation etc. It’s widely used to inspect the powder and particle material.
7. Shutoff Valve
The shutoff valve below the host sandblasting machine is specially designed valve for convenient maintenance. Its main function is to avoid the sand in the tank from letting out when the sand valve is blocked or needs replacement. The shutoff valve is latest developed and is guaranteed of free maintenance lifetime.
8. Rotation Sand Feed Valve
The rotation sand feed valve is located on the top of the host sandblasting machine, its main function is to control the sand feed quantity of the tank. As the tank is pressurized container, it needs to be wear-resistant and it’s hard to make it transparent, so it’s not easy for the operator to tell the needed sand quantity for the tank. In order to solve this problem, we install one sand level sensor in the tank, when the sand quantity reaches the set value, the rotation sand feed valve will shut off automatically, otherwise the machine can not work normally if over sand feed.
Part 6
Strength of FENG Sandblasting System:
1. No need for deep pit, saving construction cost.
2. No need for packing auger, belt conveyor, bucket elevator etc., no mechanical transmission wear, low fault rate.

4. The overall sand suction floor can completely recycle the abrasive sand fast and no residue sand will be left over. The sandblasting room is clean and there is no need for manual cleaning, which saves cost and time.
